Where curiosity takes flight and learning soars.
Hands-on rocket building and outdoor learning that’s out of this world.
From measuring rockets to exploring space—curriculum in motion.
This Neil Armstrong workshop offers your Key Stage One class an exciting way to meet core maths and science objectives through hands-on, outdoor activities. Children will develop practical skills in measurement—calculating capacity and length—as they build and launch their own rockets.
By connecting these skills with the inspiring story of space exploration, your class will enjoy rich discussions and memorable experiences that reinforce their learning well beyond the workshop day.
All activities take place outside on your school field, making it easy to bring STEM alive without leaving your site. Plus, we provide all the resources and guidance you need, so your staff can focus on joining in the fun!
Your Key Stage One class will embark on an exciting journey through space exploration, all from the comfort of your school field. We start by introducing Neil Armstrong’s incredible mission, setting the stage for hands-on rocket building and safe, thrilling rocket launches that get every child involved.
Children then dive into a fun, practical investigation—experimenting with how varying amounts of ‘fuel’ affect rocket flight distance. This not only brings history alive but offers rich opportunities to apply key maths skills in measurement and problem-solving, perfectly aligned with the curriculum.
To finish, your pupils will explore the wonders of the night sky through creative, large-scale space artwork. They’ll learn about stars and constellations, sparking curiosity and inspiring a love of science beyond the workshop.
All activities are fully resourced and led by experienced educators, so teachers can relax and watch engagement, teamwork, and learning take off—no stress, just stellar results.

Kind words from past students:
Meet our friendly team of workshop leaders to see who may be visiting your school!
For this workshop we require a flat, level, open space for the construction to take place upon. This can be either playground or a field space.
We also ask is that the area we’re using to be cordoned off during break and lunch times, so the day can run smoothly from start to finish.
Your workshop leader will keep an eye on the weather in the days leading up to your booking. If heavy rain, strong winds, or storms are expected, they’ll get in touch via email 1–2 days beforehand to rearrange your workshop for the nearest possible date—working around the weather and our availability to find the best fit.
Nope—there’s no prep needed from you! We’ll arrive with everything ready to go, including all the natural resources your class will need, so you can enjoy a stress-free day.
All we ask is that the school is ready to host us: please make sure there’s suitable parking for your workshop leader and easy access to the outdoor space (our resource trolleys are on wheels!). We’ll also need access to the building to fill up water when needed. It’s helpful if reception staff are expecting us to sign in and can point us in the right direction.
Thanks so much—we can’t wait to get started!
Yes, your usual classroom staff will need to join the workshop. While our workshop leaders are experienced in working with a wide range of children, no one knows your class like you do. Having familiar adults present helps us ensure the session runs smoothly and allows us to give the best support—especially when it comes to behaviour and any additional needs.
We see it as a team effort and really value your input on the day!
