Adding 2-digit numbers without crossing tens

LO: To add 2-digit numbers without crossing tens.

National Curriculum Objectives covered:
  • To add numbers using concrete objects, pictorial representations and mentally, including: two 2- digit numbers.
  • Applying their increasing knowledge of mental methods and written methods.

During this outdoor lesson your class will practise fluently adding tens and ones using a ball game, bring addition to life by using large-scale number lines on your playground and move their learning forward with a discussion and observation activity.
