Establishing ground rules for PSHE in UKS2

This outdoor session could be used at the beginning of the first lesson or as a stand alone lesson to establish your ground rules for PSHE and ensure children understand the values and skills they will be using in the future lessons.

During this outdoor lesson, your children will focus on their listening skills to ensure they are able to work effectively as part of a large group, while thinking of other’s perspectives and feelings. This lesson requires no resources or preparation so is perfect for a grab and go session whenever needed!

Communicating effectively in a team

The main activity of this outdoor lesson focuses your children’s understanding around teamwork and how their role within a team affects the outcome for the whole group. A lesson that requires minimal prep, it’s perfect for working through difficulties with friendship groups etc. in class in a different environment.

Using creative thinking for problem-solving

Have your children apply their creativity and problem-solving skills with this outdoor lesson. Focusing on how to compromise with others to form a unanimous decision, children will have fun with some water play and active games!

Forming positive relationships with others

The main activity of this outdoor lesson helps children deepen their connections with their peers and form positive relationships with those they may not typically work with, in a creative and engaging way that will help them form new bonds and foster kindness in your classroom.

Showing perseverance and problem-solving as a team

Get your children collaborating, compromising, giving and receiving feedback and problem-solving to work to achieve a common goal. They will need to not only use the skills they’ve learnt in PSHE lessons so far, but also their perseverance to keep going when things don’t go to plan! A unique lesson that requires minimal preparation but provides guaranteed fun!
