During this outdoor lesson the children will order key events, apply their knowledge of maps with a large scale collaborative activity, use drama skills and collect sources of information about the event.
The main activity of this outdoor lesson brings a hands-on learning experience the children will not forget! Create structural walls to replicate the building methods used in 1066 and use this to deepen children’s understanding of why the fire spread so quickly. Use pictures to add further context and support a whole class discussion.
During this outdoor lesson your children will compare and contrast methods of firefighting, investigate fire safety today, analyse their findings and debate how these safety measures could have impacted the Great Fire of London.

History
Carry out a science investigation outside, comparing materials within the context of the Great Fire of London. Use the findings to build a miniature Pudding Lane, with an opportunity to extend into some further D&T skills to create St Paul’s Cathedral.
