Have your children revisit/develop their LKS2 Working Scientifically skills in this outdoor unit. Inside, you’ll find fun and practical ways to practise these skills, meeting the National Curriculum objectives, whilst recapping the content from different LKS2 Science units.
During this outdoor lesson, children will use data loggers to take measurements in a scientific enquiry, whilst revisiting plant ID from KS1. As they do this, they will make observations and record their findings, drawing conclusions from what they have found out.
In this outdoor lesson, your children will revisit the properties of soil, using their observation skills to identify and classify different types. During the main activity in this lesson, children will analyse data, drawing conclusions from it, before asking further questions and beginning to plan for further enquiry.
Using their observations from Lesson 2, your children will plan an enquiry, select equipment and carry out a comparative test to answer a follow up question. They will consider variables and draw conclusions from their results.
The main activity of this outdoor lesson involves recording and presenting the results of a scientific investigation in a creative, practical, and informative way. Enabling you to support your class to make decisions about how they present their evidence and communicate their findings.
