This unit uses the outdoors and nature as a powerful backdrop to explore friendship, empathy, and what makes each child unique. Through creative, collaborative activities and lasting artwork, children build stronger bonds and a deeper understanding of how to care for one another.
Celebrate each child’s special person with this outdoor lesson and begin to think about what makes them special and unique using the context of nature.

End this outdoor lesson by creating a large, class mural on the playground to remind the children of everything they have learned during the lesson and to support their friendships at break times.

During this lesson you will use nature as the inspiration for sharing how to care for friendships and help them flourish. At the end of the session children will create lasting pieces of artwork around your outdoor space to remind them of how good it feels to make friends.
