During this outdoor lesson, children will have the opportunity to develop their drawing techniques, using a variety of different mediums and objects from nature to create imaginative and creative images.

Using dots and lines to create effect

LO: To use dots and lines in a drawing to create effect.

To learn about the work of a range of artists and make links to their own work.

The main activity of this outdoor lesson requires children to use techniques observed in Chris Ofili’s artwork in one of their own that is inspired by nature. This will give them the opportunity to develop various drawing techniques in an exciting way.

Adding relief and texture to artwork

LO: To add relief and texture to my artwork.

To learn about the work of a range of artists and make links to their own work.

Deliver a hands-on experience with this outdoor lesson! Using mud to add texture and relief to artwork, children will get the opportunity to collaborate to make an exciting piece of art.

Creating artwork in the style of Chris Ofili

Have children combine all the skills and techniques they’ve built upon during this outdoor unit to create an individual artwork in the style of Chris Ofili.
