Freelance Outdoor Workshop Leader - Tameside, Stockport, Manchester, Trafford, Salford, Wigan & Warrington.

Alfresco Learning is a growing, mission-driven business founded by two ex-teachers, Hollie and Jenny, determined to show how outdoor learning transforms education. With a small team and a big vision, we’re expanding our reach and looking for a confident, outdoors-loving individual to help bring our unique workshops to more schools across the areas of Southern Greater Manchester.
You’ll deliver our signature KS1 outdoor workshops to schools across Southern Greater Manchester.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering our curriculum-linked, outdoor workshops using our resources.
- Creating memorable experiences through activities with natural materials to cover National Curriculum objectives.
- Delivering workshops to: Tameside, Stockport, Manchester, Trafford, Salford, Wigan & Warrington
- Organising, moving and transporting resources around school grounds.
- Engaging children from diverse backgrounds with inspiring, hands-on learning.
- Preparing resources and planning your travel for each outdoor workshop.
- Managing the safety of all participants within the workshop.
- Adapting to changing weather and class needs on the go.
- Building strong relationships with teaching staff—we're often rebooked year after year!
- Monitoring the weather prior to the workshops and preparing school staff for what to expect on the day.
- Flexible working, the chance for you to choose which days you work on a week-to-week basis.
- Workshop resources - organised and ready to go. You will be expected to forage some natural items and to replenish your stock.
- Covering the cost of your Enhanced DBS check.
- Access to our training platform with videos and handbooks to efficiently learn and memorise our workshops.

- A hardy attitude to the UK weather - this role takes place entirely outdoors all year round and our workshops go ahead in all weathers!
- At least 1 year’s experience working outdoors with primary-aged children (ideally KS1).
- Access to a vehicle to transport workshop resources.
- A willingness to travel around Tameside, Stockport, Manchester, Trafford, Salford, Wigan & Warrington and possibly further afield for initial training.
- An understanding of what curriculum outdoor learning is.
- Basic IT confidence (email, Google Drive, Trello—training provided).
- Be reflective, open to feedback, and proactive in promoting other Alfresco Learning workshops.

Interviews take place in 2 stages: an online interview lasting approximately 20 minutes, then if successful an in person interview to take place in Wakefield on 20th August 2025.
